Located 25 kilometers southeast of Kigali, the airport will have the capacity to serve 14 million passengers per year upon completion in 2032. It will be a world-class gateway to Rwanda, and it has the potential to become a key hub for airlines operating to and from the regional airports of Rwanda and other neighboring East African nations. Construction commenced in 2017 and the project is estimated to cost approximately $1.3 billion.
