In response to the increasing number of labor crimes, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department established the Special Vehicles Section 2 within the Security Bureau. This was the birth of the Special Vehicles Section 2 Patrol Labor Squadron, commonly known as "Patlabors." And so, time passed... In the 2030s, Japan was experiencing a steady decline in its working population, and automation through AI technology was on the rise. Labors, once cutting-edge technology, had become an established part of social infrastructure. Standalone labors piloted by humans were increasingly being replaced by autonomous robots, and were becoming obsolete. But no matter how times change, the job of the Special Vehicles Section 2 remains the same: to protect people and the city.
