CREATING A NAPOLEON BICORN HAT - Full Process

Today I’d like to show you the process of creating a replica of one of the more than 250 hats that Napoleon once owned. This particular piece has been a real challenge for me, as I had never made a bicorne hat before. However, these hats have always caught my attention, and I’ve really wanted to try making one. The journey begins by studying historical references and closely examining the original designs worn by Napoleon, paying special attention to their shapes, proportions, and materials. From there, I carefully craft each element of the hat by hand, shaping and assembling it step by step with precision and patience. One of the aspects I find most fascinating about Napoleon’s hats is the aged character they have developed over time. The worn textures and subtle imperfections tell a story of history and use. That’s why, in this recreation, I’ve intentionally given the hat a deeply aged finish, aiming to capture that same sense of authenticity and the passage of time.
