At the start of his week-long trip to Spain, Pope Leo XIV was received with military honors at Madrid airport on Saturday by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia. Letizia wore a white dress – a protocol privilege reserved for Spanish queens. The King and some members of the royal family will accompany the Pope on all his stops. In addition to the official reception at the Royal Palace in Madrid on Saturday, the Spanish royal couple will attend the dedication of the Jesus Tower of the Sagrada Família by Leo XIV in Barcelona on Wednesday.
