A3 NEWS Venice 07/22/2026 - CHIOGGIA - Severe weather: the tornado that hit the Sottomarina coast caused approximately €100,000 in damages. The Venice Chamber of Commerce has made funds available to assist the affected beach establishments. €100,000 in damages, a still approximate estimate, but it conveys the scale of the devastation caused by the mere minutes of the tornado that struck the Sottomarina coast. It was around 8:30 PM when a vortex, caused by the mixing of cold and warm currents, began to form in the water. Rising high into the sky, the tornado continued to move along the coast, carrying with it sunbeds, umbrellas, changing rooms, and anything else in its path. The worst-hit establishments were Bagno Perla and Bagno Clodia. By 9 PM, once the fear had subsided, all the workers were already at work restoring the beach and making it ready to welcome bathers. - Interviewees: Alberto Vianello (Owner of Bagno Clodia Sottomarina), Mauro Armelao (Mayor of Chioggia) (Report by Edy Caliman) - Follow Antenna Tre on digital terrestrial too!
