Aeroponic Misters Spray Pattern - What's Right? - Part 2
High-pressure aeroponic misters or spray nozzles are available in many different spray patterns: Full Cone, Hollow Cone, Flat Fan, and Solid Stream. Many factors need to be considered when selecting the appropriate spray pattern of nozzles: Spray angle, Flow rate, Orifice size, and Cost. Pattern Distance: The mist pattern of a hollow cone nozzle is only coherent over a short distance after which it becomes turbulent and breaks up into a cloud. The coherent mist pattern of a low flow nozzle extends to around 6" to 12" (300mm) from the nozzle. The right spray pattern reduces the likelihood of a clogged nozzle. Also, the right nozzle will produce smaller droplet sizes with less water pressure.
