☁️What is Hanji Inlay Art? ‘Hanji Inlay Art’ is a craft technique in which a picture is first drawn on a soft styrofoam base board, and then grooves are cut along the outlines so that hanji paper can be inserted and fixed in place, gradually filling the design like a mosaic. As its nickname, “No-Sew Quilting,” suggests, the finished work has a soft yet dimensional look that feels almost like a sewn piece. Feeling so delighted, I decided to try drawing again, just like I did when I was a kid, using hanji exactly as before. Hanji is wonderful because it captures the warm, cozy feel of fabric or cloth while making the process much more convenient and user-friendly. However, using Korea’s traditional hanji but keeping the Japanese name “Kinusaiga” felt a bit awkward, so I’ve decided to introduce it as Hanji Inlay Art instead.
