INFILTRATO in INDIA nelle PROTESTE: il caso di Calcutta

I am in Kolkata, India, on an extremely hot day in early September when I accidentally come across a large demonstration moving through some streets of the city. At that moment, I don’t know the reason behind the protest or its full context, so I stop to observe from the outside and try to understand what is happening by listening to the people around me. By talking to local residents and following what is shared with me, I learn that several demonstrations have been taking place in Kolkata for days, involving people of all ages and backgrounds: students, doctors, and ordinary citizens. The situation is connected to the death of a young female doctor who passed away under unclear circumstances inside RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, one of the city’s most well-known hospitals. What emerges from the voices I encounter is a broader sense of concern touching on issues such as women’s safety, public healthcare, hospital security, and the relationship between citizens and institutions. In this video, I share what I witnessed as a casual observer, walking through parts of Kolkata and giving space to the stories and emotions of the people I met along the way. ⏱ Chapters 00:00 – Intro 00:45 – How I accidentally ended up in a protest in India 03:41 – The story: what is being told about that night 08:27 – Searching for voices: universities and city streets 10:28 – Walking around the demonstration 11:29 – Doctors’ initiatives: “Reclaim the Night” 13:10 – Discussions around the case 15:04 – India’s younger generation 15:59 – Conclusions 17:07 – Next video trailer Useful links: https://docs.google.com/document/d/16... 📷 Instagram: https://instagram.openinapp.co/simone... 🎥TikTok:   / simonelosttale   ✍️ Website: https://simonelosttale.wixsite.com/si...
