[30FPS] The Lifts@: Raffles City Tower, Raffles City

14 Jan 2025 (till now, 21 Jun 2026, some lifts are still being replaced) 🐳 sorry for the rather crappy take of these lifts; this building seemed rather high on security. Raffles City Tower is an office building part of the Raffles City complex. Being 158 meters in height and opened in 1986 (built in 1985), it was one of the tallest buildings in Singapore at the time. It consists of 35 floors of offices, and 3 mechanical floors covering the top. There are three banks of passenger lifts here, with all of the different banks of lifts installed in 1985, using Elevonic 401 controllers. There was also a service lift, which covered part of the mall and one mechanical floor at the top, that had the same controllers as the passenger lifts, however the buttons were replaced into a different kind not long after. The whole building’s interior went under a renovation project in the early 2010s, which started with the modernisation of the passenger lifts into Elevonic 411M controllers, with the cab also receiving some modifications such as the replacement of the Spec 60 buttons into Shanghai STEP EB960 fixtures, and a more luxurious looking cab interior compared to something like mTower. The high-rise lifts then were the only lifts in the entire Raffles City complex to feature lift announcements; of which they used Australian generic ones. Turnstiles were also added 2 years later, obligating guests to register by using the self-service kiosks or by going to the concierge. The service lift’s buttons were also replaced with STEP buttons around this time, but kept the original controller. It was also fitted with its own card reader, which prevented access to floors 2 and floors 5 to 39. In 2019 it was modernised with a new controller, which replaced both the interior and exterior indicators, the capacity plate, and the chime. At the time of recording, there were some works done to the lifts, with the lobby’s turnstiles being replaced to fit with the new Otis Compass360 system, which was able to allocate a lift without the need of pressing a button at the lift lobby. The destination dispatch system was still displayed on all office floors though, and also had facial recognition (forgot what it does). The passenger lifts were also progressively being fitted with the new Otis Compass360 system, as they were going under replacement. The service lift was also fully replaced in 2024, using Dewhurst US95 fixtures, which was also installed in other locations (PLQ & Republic Plaza) since 2019. The passenger lifts would eventually get identical buttons as well. You might have noticed that this place has a similar history to Six Battery Road.
