Criciúma beats Sport and sleeps in second place in Série B Tigre extends unbeaten streak with home win; Leão loses in Dal Pozzo's debut THE GAME Criciúma beat Sport 1-0 this Saturday (4), at Heriberto Hülse, for the 16th round of Série B of the Brazilian Championship. Waguininho scored the goal of the match in a first half of clear superiority for Tigre. In the second half, the quality of the game dropped, but the Pernambuco team grew offensively and had great chances to tie in stoppage time. FIRST HALF The first half saw Criciúma better on the field. They won a good part of the duels, controlled the game in midfield and suffered little in defense. Sport had a lot of difficulty finding spaces from the kickoff and hardly required the attention of goalkeeper Airton. At 13 minutes, Waguininho scored a great goal without an angle, disallowed for offside. The opening goal, however, came from Waguininho himself, at 28 minutes, heading in a cross from Willean Lepo on the right with precision. Sport protested vehemently, alleging a foul by the Criciúma striker on Marcelo Benevenuto at the start of the play. At 38 minutes, Marcelo Ajul prevented Criciúma's second goal with a sliding tackle almost on the goal line after a header from Willean Lepo. SECOND HALF The game lost considerable quality in the second half. While Criciúma maintained control of the match and didn't come close to scoring a second goal, Sport improved their attacking output compared to the first half. Even so, the shots from Perotti, Iury Castilho, and Felipinho didn't cause much concern for goalkeeper Airton. It was in stoppage time that Sport had their best chances to equalize. At 48 minutes, Yago Felipe made a beautiful pass. Pucci made a dummy run, Barletta received the ball, entered the area and shot, forcing a crucial save from Airton. Shortly after, a deflection on a cross into the area required another decisive intervention from the Criciúma goalkeeper.
