Aids: con aderenza a terapie il virus non si trasmette. Al via campagna “Hiv Parliamone ancora”
Today, people with HIV can enjoy a quality of life and life expectancy unthinkable just 30 years ago. This is provided, however, that treatment is adhered to consistently and regularly, preventing the development of drug resistance and the progression of the infection. Thanks to antiretroviral therapies, viral replication is quickly suppressed, and the risk of transmission is eliminated according to a finding known as U=U (undetectable = untransmittable). However, few people are aware of this advance in HIV treatment, and for this reason, it is essential to reintroduce the discussion about the disease to break down stigma and prejudice and promote a better quality of life for those living with the infection. This need gave rise to "HIV. Let's Talk About It Again!", a new initiative within the "HIV. Let's Talk About It?" awareness campaign promoted by Gilead Sciences with the support of 16 patient associations, the Italian Society of Infectious and Tropical Diseases (SIMIT), and the Italian Conference on AIDS and Antiviral Research (ICAR). At the heart of the initiative is the podcast "A Voce Alta - Dialogues on HIV," produced by OnePodcast in collaboration with Gilead Sciences, which you can listen to here (https://open.spotify.com/show/3WO4OGt.... The podcast promotes dialogue between doctors and people with HIV, for a better quality of life, and to make living with the disease easier. #hiv #aids #infectiousdiseases #infections #chronicdiseases #stigma
