A journey through time and tradition: discovering the Bonfire of San Giuseppe in Castelleone (CR), a centuries-old ritual with historical roots dating back to 1694. The video opens with a precious leap into the past thanks to evocative archive footage from the 1960s, enhanced by the voice and memory of historical narrator Giuseppe Pandini, to whom we extend our immense gratitude. We will then take you on an inside look at the entire day of celebration: from the morning preparations, with the painstaking work of the "Friends of the Bonfire" volunteers busy arranging bundles of wood to erect the gigantic "masiniera," to the evocative and intimate afternoon moment dedicated to poetry readings. As evening falls, Christian devotion and ancient peasant folklore merge in the most anticipated moment. We will witness the solemn procession leaving the parish church and the spectacular lighting of the great pyre in the shadow of the centuries-old Isso Tower (the "Torrazzo"). We will watch the burning of "la vecia," the effigy placed atop the pyre that embodies the harshness of winter, in a cathartic propitiatory rite to officially welcome spring and hope for good harvests in the fields.
