Solari display demonstration with controller

This is a demonstration of how a vintage Solari type display works. The units in this demo were made in the USA by the Signaltronics Company back in the early 1970's. They are mechanical displays driven by 120 Volt AC power motors. The display has 12 panels 0-9 and two blanks. Inside, there is a rotary switch that has 12 contacts. Each contact is associated with a panel. You select a number with a control rotary switch. Once you set your control, the motor will rotate until the switch in the display lines up with the contact you selected. The motor with then stop. The rotation is always in the same direction so if you are on number 7, and what to display number 6, the display must rotate through all the panels until 6 appears. If you are on 7 and want to display 8, the display will just advance to the number 8 and stop. These units were used on a Television Game show Celebrity Sweepstakes
