This follow-up lesson looks at the challenge of reading the poem for references to gender. In reading scholarship on the poem I came across various readings that I felt went too far. Obviously the poem is full of sexual references. But as I explain in the video, we have to be careful not to read too much into each line. Hopefully this video is helpful is showing that you don't always have to accept what literary scholars have to say. (That's why you should also feel free to disagree with me.)
