Still don’t know how much longer I can keep a pretty quick upload schedule though. Definitely not after August though I’ll tell you that Anywho about this video! First of all, completely ignore the fact that it is the undertale battle UI while having the dark world kris design. I wanted the front-facing ui so I could add more detail in Kris' expressions, however I also loved how Kris fighting us in the dark world instead of the light world would work (i’ll explain why in a bit) And as for Megalovania’s usage here, I really like the idea of Kris being the one getting megalovania (even though it probably won’t be true). Now it’s hard for me to say this because I don’t know much about Toby Fox’s projects before Undertale. But as of what I do know about Megalovania regarding them is that it’s a staple to (nearly) every project that Toby works on. Which could include Deltarune! And as for me picking Kris specifically there are a few reasons. as for the logistics of it: -Kris shares sans’ passive nature about their respective games’ bad route (not really acting much upon the player’s evil deeds for a while. I guess the trash can scene was something but Kris doesn’t really do anything else about it) -If Kris has their weird red glowing eye thing I can see that being a parallel to sans’ glowing eye. -Kris shares sans’ goofiness (we know that they were a prankster) but also has an intimidating side to them -kris also shares the fact that both sans and them made a promise to someone and had to break it before they made their stand. sans’ was to protect the human and although we don’t really know what kris’ promise was, i feel like it has something to do with finding dess, which the soul would play a key part in. hence, fighting back against the soul would be breaking that promise. -Although Kris isn’t really a nihilist, I can see them slowly becoming more so the further along the weird route we go. -As for the word Megalomania itself, it is defined as an obsession with power, especially in the domination of others. I’m gonna be honest I don’t think there’s a better word to explain “Kris’ actions” (HEAVY airquotes) during the weird route other than this. -I know the “vania” was originally from the word transylvania, but imagine if instead it was something like “vain-ia.” Like something that’s in vain, or something being done in vain, which could parallel a possible Kris rebellion ending in their own demise. I can admit this one’s a bit of a stretch -As for homestuck and the halloween hack (which I have nearly NO knowledge of) as well as undertale, all previous usages of the song (again, TO MY KNOWLEDGE) all have to do with a sort of “last stand” thematically I also think it works well too! It is HEAVILY implied that Kris cannot survive in the dark world without the soul. So I thought the implications that Kris’ last stand moment would show their character growth and sort of come full circle. think of it; they went from this edgy “i’m gonna be evil and betray my friends!” type of person into someone who cares so much about their friends that they would rather betray their promise and try to stop you from hurting their friends. they went from this “i’m enthusiastic about working with the knight” type of person into someone so exhausted and sick of everything that they would rather die fighting you than live with you any longer.
