Most of our women during the Great Patriotic War were among the medical workers who pulled out the wounded on the battlefields, risking themselves. But they were also signalmen, snipers, scouts and pilots, infantrymen and tankmen — and fought on a par with men, and it happened that their heroic deeds inspired male fighters. Today is our story about the Guard Captain Alexander Samusenko, one of the few female tankers who died heroically shortly before Victory Day. The data on her short life, 10 years of which were given to military service, has come down to our days, is rather scarce.
