A familiar sound from the past, full of the driving energy of our time. That is the best way to describe the music of Pokey LaFarge. The singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, born Andrew Heissler in Illinois, makes genuine American roots music with a contemporary twist. Not retro, but timeless with influences from early jazz, ragtime and swing, as well as blues and country. At the age of seventeen, the now 32-year-old LaFarge learned the trade when he hitchhiked through the United States and earned his money as a street performer. During this period, he met Ryan Koenig, Adam Hoskins and Joey Glynn, who are still part of his band. Since 2006, LaFarge has released no fewer than seven studio albums and has built up a great reputation as a live artist.
