This speech is commonly referred to as the "Silent Majority Speech." The President spoke at 9:32 p.m. from his office in the White House. Hoping to co-opt the growing peace movement, President Nixon requested the support from “the great silent majority of my fellow Americans” for his plan for peace in Vietnam.
