حكاية الطالب اللى عزف منهج البيانو على الكمان / محمود الجرشة
🎻 The Story of the Most Famous Violin Solo in the History of Arabic Music | Mahmoud El-Gersha & Abdel Wahab 🎻 Usually, in Arabic musical ensembles, when a musician performs a solo… ✔️ They stand ✔️ They play ✔️ And the audience applauds after the solo But in Abdel Halim Hafez's song "Nebtedi Menin El-Hikaya" (Where Do We Begin the Story), something happened that has never been repeated before or since. 🎼 The entire front row stood up while he played the violin solo. And the real reason behind this historic moment was: 🎻 Mahmoud El-Gersha 🎶 How did the story begin? When the maestro Mohamed Abdel Wahab composed the song "Nebtedi Menin El-Hikaya," he included a difficult and unique violin solo. Abdel Wahab listened to all the violinists in the Diamond Orchestra to choose one to play the solo… But the surprise 👇 ❌ Not a single violinist could convince him. Here's a name that Abdel Wahab knew very well: 👇 🎻 Mahmoud El-Gersha Even though he wasn't a member of the Diamond Band at the time. ⚖️ The Big Dispute and the Brilliant Solution Abdel Wahab decided: ✔️ El-Gersha should join the band ✔️ Sit in the front row ✔️ Play the violin solo But the Diamond Band's conductor, Ahmed Fouad Hassan, objected, saying that this decision could cause discord within the band. 💡 The Brilliant Solution? The entire front row would stand and play the solo, but any musical ear would recognize that the voice... was El-Gersha's soul. 👶 Who was Mahmoud El-Gersha? 🎼 He was born in 1948 in Mansoura. 🎻 His father was an oud player and music teacher. 🎤 His mother was a singer with recordings on Egyptian radio. He started playing the violin at the age of 5 and captivated everyone who heard him. He performed at many concerts as a child prodigy, and played Umm Kulthum's melodies on the violin. 🚀 The Turning Point During a concert in Cairo with the Mansoura Folk Arts Troupe, Mohamed Abdel Wahab happened to be there. Abdel Wahab heard him play the violin 👈 He was greatly impressed 👈 and advised him to study classical violin And indeed: 🎓 He enrolled in the Faculty of Music Education 🎻 and began competing with the greatest violinists in the Arab world 🎤 with the greats ✔️ He played with Umm Kulthum ✔️ He participated in concerts for the war effort after 1967 ✔️ He was one of the founders of the Arabic Music Ensemble led by Abdel Halim Nouira ✔️ He was a member of the Diamond Band Despite his genius: 📉 He struggled academically, especially with piano To the point that: 🎼 He played the entire piano curriculum on the violin and graduated in 1981 🎻 Cleopatra Solo – A Timeless Moment One of the greatest violin solos in the history of Arabic music The solo wasn't written the way it was performed. El-Gersha went off-script, playing a timeless improvisation that prompted Ahmed Fouad Hassan to say after the concert: "You did what you wanted, and history recorded the moment." 🕊️ Departure and Enduring Legacy In 1997, Mahmoud El-Gersha passed away, but: 🎶 His works are still present, 🎶 His solos are still studied, 🎶 His influence continues. El-Gersha was: ✔️ A unique Eastern sensibility ✔️ + Sound Western technique ✔️ = A school unto himself ❓ And the question that remains: When will a new El-Gersha emerge? 🎻 In this episode of Soloist Academy, you'll learn the fundamentals of violin instruction for beginners, step by step.
