Magic Pockets (Amiga 500, 1991) walkthrough (lvl25) + text review in description

Recorded with MAME 0.286. Near complete walkthrough: I played up to level 25 (out of 27) then died. - Magic Pockets is a platformer with a funny "capture and transform" mechanic: at any given time, exactly one item type is available to the player. The player can either destroy ennemies or transform them into said item type. Destroying an ennemy cycles items (available items are based on a fixed, rolling list). I would say Magic Pockets is a pretty decent plateformer. Technically, it is okay-ish, slightly underwhelming compared to Gods. The gameplay is satisfying and generally fair. This was my first time reaching world 3, and I had no trouble reaching level 25. There are plenty of items for better survivability. Movement is extremely slow in this game. Succeeding at this game requires navigating in the levels, capturing the appropriate items at the appropriate time, and handling ennemies carefully, sometimes fleeing from them or baiting them. The ennemy AI sometimes gets unfair, though treading carefully helps a lot. I died at level 25/27, but later discovered level 26 is absurdly difficult (tons of extremely fast and aggressive ennemies), and level 27 is a tricky puzzle where failure means immediate death. All in all a good game, though one kinda tricky to control and play, and balanced only up to level 26.
