Beatriz Sarlo sobre Juan José Saer en Los 7 locos

Beatriz Sarlo argues that Borges's classic period culminates in 1960 with "El Hacedor," and that from then on, the greatest Argentine writer of the second half of the 20th century is Juan José Saer. The recent publication of "Zona Saer" reflects the critic and essayist's interest in a writer from the margins, who rejected the Latin American Boom and whose recognition came late. We spoke with Sarlo about Saer, his poetic roots and his political dimension, but also about Cortázar ("a writer of enormous technical skill"), Puig ("a pop artist"), García Márquez ("not a writer who interests me"), and the literary canon as a living, mutable element subject to conflict and aesthetic debate.
