【吹奏楽】「木星」 ｰ快楽をもたらす者ｰ ～組曲「惑星」より （Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity “THE PLANETS” Suite for Concert Band） 作曲：G.ホルスト　編曲：渡部 哲哉 （Gustav Holst / Arr.by WATANABE, Tetsuya） ----- ＜曲目解説＞（Music Commentary） 木星は、イギリスの作曲家ホルストが管弦楽のために作曲した組曲「惑星」の中の1曲で、ホルストの管弦楽作品の中でも最も知られている作品です。タイトルは惑星を題材としていますが、天文学ではなく占星術から着想を得たものとされています。 元々2台ピアノのために作曲され、後に管 弦楽へと再構成され組曲の第4曲に位置づけられました。現在ではこの曲のみがコンサートで演奏されることも多く、特に中間部の旋律はその厳粛な雰囲気からイギリスの愛国歌、そしてイングランド国教会の聖歌にもなっています。 本版は原曲よりも少し小さな編成用でオーケストレーションを施しています。ティンパニが2セット用意出来ない場合は、1台だけでの対応でも構いません。それぞれの主題によって調性が変わりますので、その都度響きや表現を変えて表情豊かな演奏にしてください。 "Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity" is a piece from the suite The Planets, composed by the British composer Gustav Holst for orchestra. It is one of Holst's most well-known orchestral works. Although the titles are based on planets, they are inspired by astrology rather than astronomy. Originally composed for two pianos, it was later rearranged for orchestra and positioned as the fourth movement of the suite. Nowadays, this piece is often performed independently in concerts, and the melody in the middle section is particularly renowned for its solemn atmosphere, having been adopted as a British patriotic hymn and as a hymn for the Church of England. This edition is orchestrated for a slightly smaller ensemble than the original. If two sets of timpani are not available, it is acceptable to perform with just one.
