PUSHED TO MY ABSOLUTE LIMIT! ESCAPING The BCN! Wolverhampton 21 SINGLE HANDED! - 629
Today we continue our adventure across the BCN! After cruising for 14 hours, 28 locks, and 17 miles yesterday, from Curdworth, through the heart of Birmingham to the top of the 3 factory locks, which we just got through before darkness set in! Now we're up at first light again, as we've got a similar amount of miles and locks to do today, to finally escape from the Birmingham canal navigations, after 3 long days! Today will be around 15 miles and 22 locks! But we NEED to get the two boats to the bottom of the Wolverhampton 21 by 11am, which is where the car is as Amy needs to take Robbie to work for 12pm! So first we have to cruise 5 miles of contour canals to get to the heart of Wolverhampton, were we get to edge of the hill so to speak, as we now have 21 locks over 3 miles! To take us down off of the BCN and onto the Staffs and Worcs! But we've got two 70 foot narrowboats and a crew of 3... Yes! 3! So that means i will have to lone cruise the Wolverhampton 21! Pushing me out of my comfort zone and to my limits, as i run up and down the flight setting the locks for myself, while leaving the boat on its own in the lock! Luckily mum, who cant lone cruise, had Amy to help her, but then the working boat that had followed us across the entire BCN was behind us again! Which added extra pressure to this already stressful operation! The Wolverhampton 21 is renowned for having empty pounds, not today thankfully! Its somehow the opposite! The canal was actually overflowing! Once we make it to the bottom its a short cruise to Autherley junction to get back on the Shropshire Union and our gateway back to the countryside! But even that was easy said than done, when a big traffic jam occurs at the juction! Hello and welcome to Taylors Aboard. Im Josh and I live on a 70ft Narrowboat with my Parents, Diane and Andy.
