SATUAN 81 KOPASSUS | SIAP SETIA BERANI

KOPASSUS UNIT 81, formerly known as SAT-81/Gultor, is a unit within Kopassus, equivalent to a group, and comprises the best soldiers of all Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), headquartered in Cijantung, East Jakarta. HISTORY Beginning with the analysis of international network intelligence in the 1970s and 1980s, it has grown steadily. In 1970, the Head of the Strategic Intelligence Center ordered a comparative study of other anti-terror units: KCT (Netherlands), SAS (England), GSG-9 / Grenzschutzgruppe 9 (West Germany), and US Special Forces (United States). On March 28, 1981, a DC-9 GARUDA WOYLA aircraft was hijacked at Don Muang Airport, Bangkok, Thailand. As ordered by the Minister of Defense and Security, Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces, General M. Jusuf [1], Kopassus was ordered to carry out a hostage rescue operation on the aircraft, and OPS BASRA was a success. Anticipating the rise in aircraft hijackings in the 1970s/80s, the Head of the ABRI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) Lieutenant General TNI LB Moerdani established the birth of a new unit at the Detachment level within the Kopassandha environment. On June 30, 1982, the Anti-Terror Unit Detachment 81 Kopassandha (Den-81) Kopassandha was formed, through decree number: SKEP / 4 / VI / 1982 Dated June 30, 1982 which was the first Anti-Terror Unit in Indonesia, with the first commander Major Inf. Luhut Binsar Panjaitan with deputy Captain Inf. Prabowo Subianto. The two officers were sent to specialize in counter-terrorism to GSG-9 (Grenzschutzgruppe-9) Germany and upon their return to their homeland were entrusted with selecting and training Kopassandha soldiers appointed to Den-81. Unit 81 is the spearhead of the defense and security of the Republic of Indonesia. Unlike other units that consistently expose their activities, Unit 81's vision and mission is to be "unknown, unheard, and unseen." *Part of Camera Team #satuan81 #kopassus #tniad #indonesia
