The Sanremo Music Festival Series: Access: Italian Recording Date: March 19, 2018 The Sanremo Music Festival is Italy's most famous song competition and one of the leading media events on Italian television. It has been held annually since 1951 in the city of Sanremo. The festival features performers of original songs composed by Italian songwriters and performed for the first time by artists. Virtually all the greats of Italian music have sung at the festival, from Domenico Modugno to Mina, Adriano Celentano, Laura Pausini, and a seemingly endless list of names that have already crossed borders. Its journey has run parallel to the last few decades of Italian history.
