Brad Barton of Ogden, Utah, runs the mile in 4:17.54 at Olympian High School in Chula Vista, California, on July 9, 2014. At age 48, he is the oldest runner to go sub-4:20 in the mile. He was only 1.5 seconds off the listed M45 world age-group record of 4:16.09, set by 46-year-old Tony Young in 2008.
