Major Progress on the 50KM Sunyani Buoku Techiman Road as Hardwick Begins Corridor Transformation 4K

The rehabilitation of the 50-kilometre Sunyani–Boku–Techiman Road has entered an important stage as contractor Hardwick Limited continues preparatory works along the corridor. The project begins from the outskirts of Yaohima near Sunyani and stretches through communities including Kobiadi, Chiraa, Abrefakrom, Boku, Ayiibi, Mallamkrom, Nkrankrom, Bawhoma, Nsuta, Mampehia, Bawonkwa, Farman, Agosa, Nkwaso and finally Techiman. Current activities include extensive roadside clearing and vegetation removal to create space for future road widening, shoulder formation, drainage construction and bridge works. These early-stage activities are critical because they improve visibility, create safer road shoulders and prepare the corridor for major engineering works. One of the most important aspects of this project is the correction of dangerous sections of the highway. Areas around Boku and some steep sections near Chiraa have long posed safety concerns for motorists. The reconstruction provides an opportunity to improve road geometry by easing sharp curves and reducing steep gradients where feasible. These improvements can significantly reduce accidents, improve vehicle stability and enhance overall road safety. The Sunyani–Techiman corridor is one of the most strategic roads in Ghana. It serves as a major link between the Bono, Bono East and northern parts of the country. Farmers, traders, transport operators and businesses depend on this route daily to move agricultural produce, goods and passengers.
