The environmental management agency should not just be there to punish the miners but should be there to help them mine sustainably. Constant checks as to how they are mining are important. Having free blasters or free safety officers who advise on how to open shafts and blast safely can be a start to the miners for good mining purposes. The extinction of these initiatives has left miners digging everywhere and anywhere. From the Filabusi area in which we visited miners dig anywhere and everywhere including roads thatthey use to go their claims. If you walk at night youwill be likely to fall into gullies because there are gullies everywhere that are not even being reclaimed. This is detrimental to a person who would walk in that area without a torch in the evening they will fall in a shaft. Animals both domestic and wildlife face the risk of falling in theshaft which is found anywhere and everywhere. However, the government should create a friendly environment between it and these small-scaleminers.
