We start our departure from Yukon, Canada by driving from Dawson City to Watson Lake. Along that leg, we visit Minto Resorts, the Yukon Wildlife Preserve, and the World’s Smallest desert, Emerald Lake, the new commons shopping and information area in Carcross, and the culktural centre of the Carcross Tagish First Nations. In Watson Lake, we mount a sign to commemorate our 2023 trip with our grandsons and relocate our 2019 sign. For those interested in geology, I provide a very simplified geological history of Emerald Lake and the sand dunes that are referred to as a desert. I also show two rare plant species found in the Carcross desert – really a sand dune field: a) Yukon Lupine (Lupinus kuschei); and b) Baikal sedge (Carex sabulosa).
