Exploring Cascais Portugal - Boca do Inferno

In this video, we're visiting the Boca do Inferno in Cascais, Portugal. It's an absolutely stunning natural wonder, with waves crashing against the rocks below. It's totally worth the walk from the center of town to see this beautiful sight. But Boca do Inferno also has an interesting history. In 1930, famous magician Aleister Crowley faked his own death here as part of a stunt. He left Portugal secretly and reappeared three weeks later at an exhibition in Berlin. The whole thing was reported in the news and helped promote Crowley's work. Now, there's a small white plaque on the rock that tells the story of the pseudocide and includes the text of Crowley's supposed suicide note which says "Não Posso Viver Sem Ti. A outra 'Boca De Infierno' apanhar-me-á não será tão quente como a tua" or "Can't live without you. The other mouth of hell that will catch me won't be as hot as yours." It would be a sweet message if it were actually true. After exploring more of Cascais, we finish off the day with a delicious lunch at an Indian restaurant in the town.
