PM struggles with puppy at Battersea Dogs Home

Prime Minister David Cameron visits the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home to celebrate the charity's 1,000th volunteer, but is unable to keep a hold of its newest resident. Prime Minister David Cameron praised the "fantastic" work of volunteers at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home as he was given a tour of the south London rescue centre. He was greeted on arrival by a guard of honour made up of nine dogs currently awaiting rehoming. Among them was Yorkshire terrier Bertie, who arrived at the centre three days ago after being found wandering the streets of London. After remarking that he appeared "good-natured", the little dog was passed to the Prime Minister but wriggled out of his arms after a split second. Mr Cameron then chatted with some of the many volunteers who give up their free time to look after the animals. It was Mr Cameron's first visit to the home, although Larry, the Downing Street cat, came from Battersea. The centre's 1,000th volunteer is James Moore, 32, from Beckenham, south east London.
