Maj Gen Dick Olum Takes Over as chairperson of Security Supervisory Mechanism (SSM)

Maj Gen Otto Handsover to Maj Gen Olum Office as Chairperson of the Security Supervision Mechanism 13 June 2024 The Chief of Joint Staff, Major General Jack Bakasumba, has today presided over the handover/takeover of the Office of the Chairperson of the Security Supervision Mechanism in South Sudan at a function held at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Headquarters, Mbuya. During the ceremony, Maj Gen Richard Otto handed over the Office of the Chairperson of the Security Supervision Mechanism to Maj Gen Dick Olum. Maj Gen Bakasumba reminded them that their appointments are not just privileges but come with heavy responsibilities. The outgoing Chairperson, Maj Gen Otto, thanked President Yoweri Museveni and UPDF leadership for the opportunity to serve. The incoming Chairperson, Maj Gen Dick Olum, expressed gratitude to the UPDF leadership for entrusting him with the role and appreciated his predecessor for the mentorship. Present at the function were: the Joint Staff - Human Resource Management, Brig Gen Jame Kinalwa, Joint Staff - Logistics, Brig Gen Godwin Karugaba, Joint Staff - Legal Services, Brig Gen Godard Busingye Deputy Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security, Brig Gen Abdul Rugumayo and other senior officers.
