Join me for a walk through Dafen Oil Painting Village 大芬油画村, tucked away in Longgang District, Shenzhen — a small urban village that's home to thousands of painters and over a thousand galleries and workshops. Dafen started in 1989 as a small production hub for hand-painted art reproductions, and today it's known as one of the largest oil painting communities in the world.
