In recent years, he has directed "Mashle MASHLE THE STAGE" and "Physical Twin Symphony," the opening program for the Osaka-Kansai Expo. He has also worked as a choreographer, working with artists such as Arashi, AKB48, and GRe4N BOYZ, as well as numerous 2.5-dimensional musicals. He has also appeared in numerous stage productions as an actor and MC. He is a unique entertainer who has attracted attention in the industry, fusing a variety of genres, including theater and live performances, with dance through innovative, narrative-rich direction. Biography Born in Nerima Ward, Tokyo. He began street dance in high school. He enrolled in the Department of Theater at Nihon University College of Art and joined the university's jazz dance club. In 2001, during his freshman year of university, he formed the dance entertainment group "Umebou" with his club classmates. While working as an actor for the theater troupe "Gekibaka," he also appeared in various dance events and contests as Umebou. He spent his twenties juggling theater and dance. He established a unique style of telling stories through jazz dance set to J-POP, and won a special prize at TOKYO DANCE DELIGHT VOL.8 and placed 5th at TOKYO DANCE DELIGHT VOL.10, earning him the right to compete in the FINAL. In 2009, he won a special prize at "JAPAN DANCE DELIGHT VOL.16 FINAL," one of the world's largest street dance contests. In 2012, he won "LEGEND TOKYO," a competition that determines the best choreographer in Japan, earning him the title of number one in Japan. That same year, Umebou shifted its focus to theater performances. Favoured by theater, dance, music and other entertainment enthusiasts, the group has performed at numerous venues, including Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, PARCO Theatre, Setagaya Public Theatre, Haiyuza Theatre, Tokyo Globe Theatre, Zepp Blue Theatre Roppongi, Sunshine Theatre, IMM Theatre and Honda Theatre, and has grown to the point where it regularly tours Tokyo, Aichi and Osaka two to three times a year. In addition to their work as Umebou, they have also demonstrated a wide range of talents, directing and choreographing popular TV dramas and musicals, artist live performances and music videos, and have attracted increasing attention from across the industry. He was the leader of the legendary Osaka team "ANGEL DUST BREAKERS," which also included Takashi Okamura (Ninety-Nine), and after working as one of Japan's top B-Boys, he founded the street dance promotion company "ADHIP" in 1992. He has organized numerous events, including "JAPAN DANCE DELIGHT," one of the world's largest and most prestigious street dance contests. He founded the free street dance paper "Dance Delight Magazine." In 2000, he hosted the first Asian tournament of the world's largest breakdance event, "BATTLE OF THE YEAR." With strong ties to countries around the world, his influence is immeasurable. In August 2017, he received the "Inaugural Takajin Award Legend Division" in recognition of his contributions to making Osaka a global street dance city. On November 16, 2025, he will become the first Japanese person to be inducted into the World Breaking Hall of Fame.
