REV. DR. KEZÜTHSÜLOÜ KAPFO (1943 -2024) Homegoing Service at Lekromi Village

A BRIEF PROFILE OF REV. DR. (MS) KEZÜTHSÜLOÜ KAPFO (1943 -2024) Rev. Dr. (Ms.) Kezüthsüloü Kapfo was the daughter of Lt. Mr. Welhizü Kapfo and Lt. Mrs. Kewemvü-ü Kapfo from Lekromi Village. She received her early education at Government High School, Pfutsero, and later pursued and completed her License of Theology (L.Th.) from Eastern Theological College, Jorhat. Though she never married, she dedicated her life to serving others. displaying remarkable compassion and genuine concern for everyone around her. Her big hea rt and selfless dedication to the community became hallmarks of her ministry, as she chose to make the Church and its congregation her extended family. After graduation, she became the first theologically trained Women Secretary of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) in May 1972, serving in this role until 1979. During her tenure, Rev. Dr. K. Kapfo initiated the adult literacy program and the Weaving Unit at Chakhesang Baptist Church Council Mission Centre, T.Chikri, Pfutsero. In June 1979, she furthered her studies at Serampore College, earning her Bachelor of Divinity (B.D.) in 1982. Upon her return to the Council in May 1982, she served as Treasurer and Secretary of Chakhesang Women Welfare Society (CWWS) until 1984. During this time, she oversaw the construction of the Working Women Hostel at the same Mission Centre. From 1984-2004, Rev. Dr. K. Kapfo served as Women Secretary at Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC). It was during her tenure at NBCC that the Women Department spearheaded the fight for liquor prohibition. It was during the same tenure that the Miqlat Ministry for underprivileged women and girls-at-risk was initiated and executed. Post retirement from her tenure as Women Secretary at NBCC, she served in various capacities such as Associate Pastor Women at the Chakhesang Baptist Church Kohima (CBCK) from January 2005 till June 2006; Women Pastor at the Chakhesang Baptist Church Toulazouma, Vice Chairman at the Pfutsero Town Baptist Church, Headmistress at the Union Christian School Pfustero, Bible School Teacher at T. Chekri Pfutsero, President of North East Women Fellowship Director of the Naga Restoration Cord initiative under the aegis of the then Council of Naga Baptist Churches Association (CNBC), President of the CWWS, and was a board member of the same CWWS Board (2001-2003). She also served as Pastor and Senior Pastor of the Kuzhami Baptist Church Chümoukedima from 2014-2023 and Church Advisor of KBC, Chüoukedima till date. Rev. Dr. K. Kapfo was the first Chakhesang woman to earn M.Th. and Th.D. degrees between 1990-1995 from the Asia Baptist Graduate Theological Seminary in Hong Kong. She was also ordained as the first woman Reverend from the Chakhesang Community in 2002
