Heating our 300 year old house.

Digging into old houses can be interesting, there's nearly always surprises, some good, some not so good. This one was no different. After a day of exploratory surgery we finally figured it out. Two completely separate systems were in play here. The first was the oil boiler central heat that was connected to twenty one radiators, some very large radiators at that. The second was the domestic hot water system that consisted of the copper cylinder, large old back boiler wood stove in the kitchen, immersion heater, and some older solar on the roof. I didn't mention the immersion or the solar in the video as I didn't adjust those at all. These systems weren't connected together as they usually would be, they had their own expansion tanks and cold water feeds in the attic so everything was safe from explosions. We decided to merge the two systems. We replaced the wood stove with a brand spanking new Henley Druid 30kw capable of heating 20 radiators, tied the hot feed from the stove into a loop for the heating system and the copper cylinder and now the stove is heating domestic hot water, AND heating radiators. We added a zone valve to cut off the top floor heating loop, that makes it so the wood stove is able to heat the bottom two floors easier. After living with the heating system for the last few weeks, right through Christmas, frost, snow and cold, I'm delighted to say that it works the way we hoped it would. Thank you for following along on this journey. Plenty more to come. Just a reminder, Im moving these videos over from my other channel, Chillseekers. Don't panic, I've given myself full permission to do so. I just wanted to split the house content away from the other projects.
