Olympics 1972 Swim 4x100 Medley Relay Final
The final competitive swimming event at the 1972 Munich Olympic games. the premier 4-by-100 metre team medley relay--backstroke, breast stroke, butterfly, and then freestyle (crawl)--pitted the Americans led by Mark Spitz against the East Germans and Russian as the favourites to medal. Only with each swimmer improving on his personal best did the Canadian team of Erik Fish, William Mahony, Bruce Robertson, and Robert Kasting have a chance at a medal. It was to be almost a silver for Canada. This excerpted clip only of the race itself includes commentary by CBC.
