Philippe Kuhlmann, l'un des derniers bouviers en activité

Philippe Kuhlmann is a farmer in Soultzeren, in the Munster Valley. But there's no tractor on his farm. For 40 years, he's been training oxen and bulls, then doing his haymaking and farm work using animal traction. These skills have earned the reputation of the drover (one of the last working cattlemen) throughout France and even further afield. His cattle are in high demand, and young people who want to start farming come to his home to discover his philosophy and expertise. Interest in cattle traction is experiencing a resurgence.
