Ben started playing teochew lor kor about 20 years ago. With no official master, Ben literally learnt his drum skills through the hard way by listening to several drum master's verbal teaching (Soon Heng Gao, 黄镇江, the late Dua Pui Yong, Or Leng). With a hectic business schedule, Ben now play the drum for leisure as during my short conversation with him, Ben reiterated that one cannot make a decent living just by playing teochew drum in Singapore.
