His video reached 38 million views, increased complaints to SaferNet by 114%, and stirred up the National Congress. Soon after, Globo invited him to present the segment "About Us" on Fantástico. But then many people felt: he seems different on TV. More stiff. More artificial. Why? In this video, I explain (using real linguistics) what happens when an internet creator enters a television format. And I also raise a question that nobody is openly discussing: what does it mean for his segment to be sponsored by one of the world's largest social networks? 📚 THEORISTS WHOSE REFERENCES WERE CITED IN THE VIDEO ▸ Michael Halliday: British linguist, creator of the concept of Linguistic Register. According to Halliday, all communication varies according to three factors: the field (subject), the relationship (who speaks to whom), and the mode (communication channel). His work forms the basis of Systemic-Functional Linguistics. ▸ Carl Hovland: American social psychologist from Yale University.
