The Sooty Show - Superdog (With Original Music) (1985)

Footage courtesy of Aiden Slater and The Sooteries Channel. Here is an episode of The Sooty Show called "Superdog" - this one, and the other two episodes with Superdog in them, are notable for having the Superman theme by John Williams in them when they were originally broadcast on CITV. For the VHS release "Sooty and Superdog", which this episode was featured in, the Superman theme was retained - but in further releases and broadcasts (like in 2013 when this episode was broadcast as part of CITV's Old Skool Weekend), the theme was replaced with "Superhero" by Anthony JK Hymas. So I decided to combine the audio from the VHS with the visuals from the DVD in order to see what the broadcast-quality version of the original episode would've been like. One night, Sooty, Sweep, and Soo are dreaming. Sweep's dreaming of being Superdog, a dog with amazing abilities including super strength. The next morning, Matthew reads in the newspaper that Geoff Capes, the "World's Strongest Man", is giving a demonstration on strength locally. Matthew and the rest go to see Geoff Capes who proves too much for boastful Matthew in a tug-of-war competition. Then, Superdog appears and before he can demonstrate his amazing strength, they are interrupted by a small boy who says that a runaway lorry is heading towards the school. Matthew knows the seriousness of the situation and asks Geoff Capes for help, but he says that even he cannot manage a runaway lorry and says that this is a job for Superdog! Will he be able to save the children in time?
