Leaving the Bahamas After 6+ Months | Our Honest Truth About Boat Life

This week, we begin our long journey back to the United States after more than six months cruising the Bahamas, traveling from Spanish Wells to Great Harbour Cay before crossing the Gulf Stream aboard our Nordhavn 55. We spend our final days in Spanish Wells enjoying unbelievably clear water, calm sunsets, and one last eFoil sesh before turning MV Explorado north. From there, we cruise to Great Harbour Cay, where unidentified sharks circle the boat, then continue through heavy cruise ship traffic near Great Stirrup Cay. Along the way, we share the honest reality of full-time liveaboard life, why we’re ending our Bahamas cruising season, and what it means to live completely nomadically with no house, cars, or permanent marina. Dave also shares a major career change as he prepares to transition from the Boeing 787 to the Boeing 777, while we make plans for boat maintenance, family visits, and our next cruising season. Finally, we cross the Gulf Stream to Fort Pierce, Florida, carefully timing our arrival around the strong inlet current.
