Jaime Altozano y la orquesta

The word "orchestra" comes from the Greek ορχήστρα, "orchestra," and means a place for dancing. This definition dates back to around the 5th century BC, when performances were held in open-air theaters, which in Rome were called amphitheaters. In front of the main performance area was a space for singers, dancers, and instruments. This space was called an orchestra. Today, the term refers to a group of musical instruments and the musicians who play or perform them, regardless of the musical genre they perform (classical, tropical, modern, etc.).
