Remember The Best - WAYNO

All the way from New Zealand, "WAYNO" Aaronn James Jesse joined our platoon in March 2024 as a rifleman and then as our combat medic. We could immediately see a very kind, funny and very motivated guy. He seemed a bit clumsy due to his height, and although very social, he could come off as awkward. Despite that, his transition was very quick, and he fit in very fast. During training and chores, he showed how he could always find a way to enjoy all situations, and carry around him a vibrant positive atmosphere. He would not even get mad, he would turn any negativity into something funny or unserious, truly a remarkable characteristic. This was not just a first impression, it continued for a year. He took particular interest in tactical medicine and trained hard for it. He still honed his skills as an infantry man, whether he had a rifle or a shovel, he would get to work. His first few missions were supposed to be a simple, but turned deadly very quickly. Although his fear was visible, he remained calm, and got through them, quickly becoming quite self sufficient, though still remaining silly and forgetful. Aaronn really liked Ukraine, especially the food. Always ordering multiple dishes, buying bags of groceries and eating so much, that we nicknamed him "The Fatass", despite being tall and skinny. He made a lot of friends and connections, which helped him during some hard times he had, particularly developing signs of PTSD after treating a lot of casualties on the zero line. He was considering going home, but decided to push through, after after two months, he felt much better, understood himself and continued working. After the disbandment of the International Legion, our platoon split up, and WAYNO with a few others continued serving in Code 9.2. During a combat mission, WAYNO treated and was evacuating casualties, during which there was a lot of shelling, drones and potential enemy infantry. He was declared Missing In Action. (M.I.A.) and his body has not been found or recovered. The chance of him being alive and having gotten captured is extremely small, but not 0.
