Andy was the innovator of several breakthrough technologies in sports broadcasting. He invented and implemented the “rail cam“, providing a true trackside view of sprint races. Andy also - while directing NBA contests - invented and implemented the “backboard cam” and the “slash cam” - among a number of other innovations. As a boy, Andy was actively involved in the Jewish faith. But, as a young man, he became disillusioned when the Rabbis could not address his concerns or questions. This led him to have an “agnostic“ outlook on life. Andy lost all interest in religion until he met a fascinating “Mormon girl“ named Shari Conover - an Emmy Award-winning graphic artist – and a member of his crew at the 1988 Seoul Korea Olympics. Her example and encouragement led him to a thorough investigation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
