The Protection a Mezuzah Provides

Putting up a mezuzah is a mitzvah that comes with the reward of increased days. A mezuzah also provides protection for one's home and for oneself. However, the protection isn’t a form of reward, it is what the actual mitzvah is. This is why, when one puts up a mezuzah and also intends to create protection, they are in complete fulfillment of the mitzvah. The Rebbe concludes with the mention of a horrific terrorist attack that occurred in Israel in 1974 and discussed how kosher mezuzahs have the power, similar to a soldier's helmet, to protect against negative occurrences.
