Just A Shave: Gillette Tech Ball NDC G - Feather (5) - HoM Tusk Santal Noir - Yaqi 2-Bnd Clear
Doing some matching on some seemingly random gear today because of the Join Us July challenge going on at /r/wetshaving But I love mammoth soap and the vintage Gillette tech razor, so it was a lot of fun nonetheless. Razor: Gillette - Tech Ball-end NDC Gold Blade: Feather (5) Lather: House of Mammoth Tusk - Santal Noir Brush: Yaqi - 2-Band Badger Clear 24mm (2 uses) Post: Stirling - Burgundy Razor and Blade Notes - Gillette - Tech Ball-end NDC Gold ::: Feather (5 uses): This is the old paradigm where I take a mild or medium-mild razor and put a sharp blade in it and end up with a great shave. The feather blade is held in perfect control by the nice clamping of this tech razor. Comfortable and efficient cutting, taking down five days of growth was no problem at all Razor and Blade Performance/Comfort Rating: 4 out of 5 (Very Good) Soap Notes - House of Mammoth Tusk - Santal Noir: The scent part of this collab was created by Australian Private Reserve (APR). Them: "a sophisticated design, resting on Sandalwoods with a heart of Agarwood, Dark Rose, Jasmine, Jonquil, Cassis, Lemon, and more." Scent: I mainly got the nice blend of Noir type scent notes the first time I used it. But sometimes, I get the warm spices and woodiness in addition to the noir notes. Really great scent. Scent Strength: 5/10, nicely present during shaving. Lather: Mammoth Tusk base is tremendous and it took all the water I pushed into it and never broke emulsion. Gave me a awesome slick shave. Hydration: Wet End of Perfect (for me) 25 ml (5.1 tsp) added to make lather = 4 passes of lather Bowl: Roger Quintero 3D Printed Bowl - Black Thanks Greg Gallant! Brush Notes - Yaqi - 2-Band Badger Clear 24mm (2 uses): Much better than I remember! tips were fairly soft and it was reasonably easy to keep in splay. *Shave Quality* During the Shave Feel: Cheeks: Almost Smooth Neck: Felt blade but comfortable After the Shave Closeness: Cheeks: Near BBS - About as close as I'll ever get Neck: Cut flush to where I just see the tips (above average for me) I'm gradually adding answers to frequent questions here: http://www.sugardaddyshaves.com Wetshaving is the age-old shaving method where you create a lather from a soap or cream, usually with a brush. And these days, we also usually mean using a safety razor (aka double edge or DE) or single edge or straight razor to remove the hair. We often enjoy less irritated skin, healthier skin, more enjoyable shaves, and often closer shaves than those who use a multi-bladed cartridge and canned shaving foam.
