The Sanctuary Carp Lake: Stunning Fully Scaled Carp, Big Commons & New Beginnings

Welcome back to another episode of The Fensmere Carpy Chronicles! This week I headed to The Sanctuary to spend some time with good friend Andy McNeillie, who has recently taken over ownership of this incredible carp fishing venue. After many years living in Chamonix, Andy has embarked on a completely new adventure, moving to the lake complex and beginning the next chapter in The Sanctuary's remarkable story. This is just the beginning of the journey and we'll soon be bringing you a dedicated film following Andy's new lake life and future plans for the venue. During the trip I also had the pleasure of meeting Adam, the previous owner, and his son. After more than 20 years developing and nurturing this unique fishery, Adam leaves behind an incredible legacy and some fascinating stories that deserve to be told. The fishing itself proved challenging. The carp had recently finished spawning and were far from easy to tempt, but persistence paid off. Over the course of the session we managed to land some truly stunning fish, including one of the Sanctuary's famous fully scaled carp and a beautiful big common right at the end of the trip. The Sanctuary has long remained under the radar, known mainly to a close-knit group of anglers who appreciate its incredible stock of characterful, heavily scaled carp. With Andy now at the helm and committed to building on everything Adam has created, the future looks incredibly bright for this special venue.
