I spotted a cat on my way home from school. It was shiny all over and seemed strange. My friend and I approached the cat carefully, careful not to scare it, but the cat just stood there without running away. As we got closer, an old lady who seemed to be working in the fields spoke to us. "It seems the cat was being fed by the family, but maybe the family member was in a bad mood and poured oil on it. We were able to wipe away a fair amount of oil. One of my friends carried my bag and we went to a familiar vet. According to the vet, the oil on the cat's face was dirty, so it got into its eyes and caused inflammation. That's what was causing the blood to come from its eyes. They couldn't tell for sure without examining it, but because it was a stray cat, they couldn't do much more. The inflammation was severe, so surgery might be necessary. That would cost money. We're kids and don't have a lot of money. There, in front of me, was a cat with a resigned look on its face. I told the vet that I'd talk to my parents about it, and if that didn't work, I'd give up and come back tomorrow, and we headed home. I went home and talked to my parents about it. I pleaded with them as hard as I could. We already had six dogs and cats, so the expenses were not insignificant. But my parents ultimately agreed to my plea.
