TRIBUN-VIDEO.COM - Police have uncovered new facts in the case of a baby being dumped in a toilet on the Yogyakarta-Surabaya Sancaka train on Saturday (July 4, 2026). The baby's father, identified as HDP (31), was married and had two children. This was one of the reasons behind the baby's abandonment, which he committed with his lover, NIZ (25). Solo Deputy Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Sigit, explained in a statement on Friday (July 10) that the couple were dating and engaged in sexual intercourse. NIZ later became pregnant and gave birth at home on July 1, 2026. Police arrested HDP in Yogyakarta on Wednesday evening (July 8, 2026), while NIZ was arrested at her residence in Tegal a day later. The arrests were made after the PPA and PPO Units of the Solo Police expanded their investigation based on a report from PT KAI Operational Area 6 Yogyakarta regarding the discovery of a baby in a train toilet. The investigation revealed that NIZ brought her baby from Tegal to Yogyakarta the day after giving birth to meet HDP. The two had discussed entrusting the baby to an orphanage. However, the plan was canceled because the orphanage's regulations did not align with their wishes. Ratna added that NIZ had actually planned to take her child back after marrying HDP. However, the orphanage only allowed three months of care, so the plan could not be realized. In investigating this case, police also secured several pieces of evidence, including clothing from the two suspects and baby supplies. For their actions, HDP and NIZ were charged under Article 429 paragraph (1) of the Indonesian Criminal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of five years' imprisonment, and Article 430 of the Indonesian Criminal Code, as applicable.
